A Man and his Horse

It has been 1 year since I started drawing! And in a fit of vertigo-induced madness I decided it was a good time to try my first horse, my first material and my first person all in one big new drawing! Who on earth thinks this is a good idea? That's correct, crickets chirping...

Anyway, this is approximately A4 size, and for those that don't recognise him, it's Jay and an anonymous horse from Moonlight Retreat, a fantastic holiday cabin down on the Great Ocean Road near Apollo Bay. Coloured pencil on drafting film. Jay likes it, so we'll be framing this one to go, well, somewhere :)

I agree with the other commenters... the horse is beautiful, very lifelike. The man (Jay) is good as well, but appears more like a caricature, an artistic rendition, rather than lifelike. Which happens to make this piece quite unique. I like it! :)

You have a wonderful talent, Dee.
