Like a Tiger *grrrrrrr*

So, after much angst and gnashing of teeth, I have finally finished my first animal oil painting! I couldn't post it here when I finished because I was giving it to my husband as a surprise for Christmas and I know he has sent this link to people...

I'm pretty damned happy with it. I am especially pleased with how the feet turned out given they were looking awfully like horrible blobs for a while there! It's 16"x20", and I've had it framed in a dark almost-black wood (which as it turns out is slightly warped so I need to take it to be redone).

Oh, and Jay's reaction? He was rapt :D

So I tried to paint once. But I have no sense of proportion, shape, perspective, color, or anything else that actually goes into painting a picture.

Therefore I deeply respect your ability to paint something that looks like what it's supposed to look like.

You painted this??

Wow.

It looks grrrrrrreat!

All I ever painted were people. My oldest sister painted nothing but animals. Once she had me do the cowboy on top of the horse she was painting 'cause she had never drawn or painted people at all.

No way! You painted this? It's FANTASIC.

Thanks for the comment on my blog. How do you pronounce your name? I go with DEER-dree but my family (who are from Lake Placid, NY, by the way -- but there are no giant alligators there) pronounce it Dee-AIR-dree. They give me an extra syllable.

I'll be back!

I'm always a Deer-dree, but a lot of people here pronounce it Deer-dra which I don't particularly like...

I love Lake Placid the movie! It's one of my favourites, although I don't know what that says about me *heh*

Thanks for all the comments guys :)

God you are so good! I really admire your talent. When I try to paint, I get my hands, face, and clothes covered with paint. And that's all. No stunning canvas to show for it, just a shower and some ruined clothes.
